Yesterday morning, Anna Wintour, Olivia Palmero and the rest of the fash pack may have been noticeably absent from yesterday’s FROW, but that didn’t stop me getting excited about taking my seat amongst the ‘less obsessed’ at the ‘Ideal Home‘ Catwalk shows.
The long standing Earls Court Exhibition, is so seeped in nostalgia for me, that an invitation to tour the site before the impending chaos was too great an opportunity to turn down! As a child, my dad would regularly take us to the show, eager to release his inner ‘Llewelyn- Bowen’and get tips on how to make our humble home more stylish. My brother and I were only interested in the free samples hidden in the food sections, in fact it was at Earls Court, not Stockholm, back in the early 90’s, that I distinctly remember trying my first Swedish meatball!
First on the tour: The ‘Only Fools and Horses’ re fit with the lovely George Clarke.
An in depth talk on how to make the best use of small spaces affordably,
perfect for young couples, first time buyers, or if you just have a tight budget.
I bet Del would’ve loved the refurb!
When the show officially opened, you already know what was on my mind first – foooooooood!!! New tasty treats, many that haven’t hit the market yet, with the show being the perfect testing ground! Cheese, sausages (I bought 3 packs) wine, cakes… Enough testers to potentially save on buying lunch (but I didn’t!) and by the looks of it toffee vodka is set to make a come back!
Pots, pans, kitchen gadgets, clothes and jewellery were also available at cost price. My favourite gadget; a cake decorating set that takes your icing from average to amazing! (Below)
It’s a fun day out, staying true to its retro feel, but now playing host to some new modern touches including a stylish Champagne bar and with lots of pampering for ladies!
Next it was on to Prince’s Foundation project:
