Until the cool breeze made my eyes water and the skies opened, pelting us with hailstones on Sunday afternoon, I , like so many others had put away my winter coats, and was having a dalliance with denim jackets and cardis.
As I ran for cover, vexed that I was unprepared, it was irritating that just a few weeks ago, England was enjoying a mini heatwave and basking in sunshine. So much so, there were reports of ‘exposed flesh’ and ‘flip-flops’. The British weather has always been a bit temperamental but I had been living in the hope of soaring temperatures. So.. it may not be quite warm enough to do away with the 40 denier tights, however Spring IS on it’s way and there’s no harm in mixing things up a little!
Here are just a few of my fave Spring picks:
Nothing screams ‘Spring’ like FLORALS ! From Oasis to BooHoo there are lots of gorgeous floral print Kimonos doing the rounds. (Kimon-over.. Kimono-ver, baby!!) Layer up with tank tops & loose t-s to avoid feeling the chill -they’re guaranteed to put a spring in your step!
I’ve dug out my Miss Selfridge Kimono, as seen on the ‘Look Magazine’ Website – It’s perfect for throwing over an LBD, clashed with other floral prints.. or for wearing around the house whilst attempting a baby ‘beehive’.
Nails Inc leather effect polish (£12) in ‘Dalston’ is my ultimate Spring nail crush colour right now!
It’s more ‘painted wall’ effect than ‘leather’ but I love it anyway. Use without top coat for the textured feel and wait for the compliments to roll in..
The ‘Pretty Quik’ range has been around for donkey’s years, and I use the nail drying spray regularly. After getting the ‘instant polish remover’ in a goody bag I was reminded of what a great team they make! Dip and twist to remove old polish (even multiple layers) apply new polish and spray for a fabulous spring manicure in minutes..
Mac’s face and body is my favourite ‘lightweight’ foundation! Famed for giving people a natural looking ‘dewy glow’, the ultra sheer foundation is perfect for the warmer weather! Mr G recently bought me a ‘baby’ travel sized version from the US, perfect for spring breaks!
Face and body is relatively transfer resistant and as someone who has previously experienced EXTREMELY bad skin, I can vouch for the fact that it does not cause breakouts, but would recommend trying a sample pot first if you have oily skin.
I nearly lost a hand the last time I dared to spritz my sisters prized ‘Someday’ by Bieber, but it was worth it! I’ve never been a big fan of floral scents.. but this is my pick of ‘floral favourites’. From the ‘lighter’ Chanel Mademoiselle to the ‘darker’ Black XS.. all have varying degrees of ‘sweet’ base notes combined with floral top notes to suit the season.
Primark and Forever 21 have a range of large, bold floral prints in stock- I love the flecks of ‘Dalston’ coloured blue in this skirt!
From mini to maxi.. all from Forever 21. The majority of my floral pieces come from Forever 21
