Gestation Frustration

Gfrustration1

Every women has preconceived ideas of how they’ll be, look and feel when pregnant. I remember having conversations with friends in my early 20’s – nodding enthusiastically as they declared that they would never not have time to get  their nails done.. or would never let a bit of tiredness stop them from going to the salon…

Team Murad

Although I don’t particularly like Winter and the effects the cold weather has on the skin (constant movement between dry heat to the extreme cold) I DO like that with less sun, in my opinion, Winter is the perfect time to deal with pigmented skin. I’m not gonna lie, it actually feels good to be on the other side of the skin spectrum, and I feel that months of testing and trying products is worth it when people ask what I use on my once severely acne scarred mug! My inbox is full of  requests for solutions to scarring and so I thought it was the perfect time to share this post.

Modern Ginzing-A-mins!

OriginsD&N

In February 2010 I temped with a girl who was absolutely obsessed with Origins facials. She knew I was going through a tough time with my own skin, so during a lunch break she dragged me along to the Origins store in Kingston for an assessment with a complimentary  thirty minute facial..

Oil be buying more

oil2

A couple of months ago I met up with an old school friend. She looked fabulous, and always does, but it was her mum who shocked me the most. Over ten years had passed since I’d last seen her  mother and she looked  the same, if not better than all those years ago. Want to know her secret? Well oil tell you..

Go go glow

Getreadyforsummer

Leaving the house without a coat.. slowly peeling back the layers.. spending more time in the garden.. yes!!

I had no idea when I put on my trainers yesterday (according to several reports) 56% of the nations women would be choosing the same day to start their ‘bikini body’ diets, the park may have been full of joggers and runners all getting their ‘work out’ on, with the average woman aiming to lose up to 11lbs over the next 13 weeks, but I’m not that interested in a bikini bod or bikini diets, I still want better summer skin!

Ain’t nobody got time for that!

AGT1

I’m not a shy person.. FAR from. I don’t get easily embarrassed, taking pleasure in publicly doing things that make my husband and younger sister cringe! I wear rollers (or a bonnet*) out and about, and have proudly worn pyjamas to church! I am Über fussy about food and hand hygiene, confronting staff in a popular ‘regal’ Burger outlet (in a nice way!) for getting too friendly with the buns,  and others for  handling money AND my lunch! (Not on my watch! No Sirrreeee.)  If I  don’t like something- you’ll hear about it, so why on the first few days of any new job do I turn into a quivering wreck??!!

Eve Lom to the rescue

evelom-news-facial

If anybody had told me that removing ‘Lets Go’ lashes would cause me to scream out in pain, I would have definitely reconsidered having them put on and stuck to my beloved paper lashes!  A few days before Christmas, I walked into a Saks Salon, ready to have my ‘spiders’ taken off. Having had them for just under a month, I was ready to try something else, but was told I had looked after them really well and could keep them for another week or two more! Big mistake!!!

Product of the week- Soltan Suncare Cream

For years I’d wondered , why ONE side of my face seemed to be more prone to pigmentation and acne than the other. Not even my dermatologist at the time, could provide an answer. The answer came from watching a documentary ‘Horizons: The truth about looking young’, which highlighted that ‘truck drivers’ and people who spend lots of time in cars (which I did for a period) have considerably more pigmentation or sun damage on one side of their face, due to  the way UVA rays filtered through the  driver window.
